Creative Attributes:
Speaking of future career plan after MA graduation, I have set up some goals that I am going to pursue in the next 5 years which would include but is not limited to exhibiting, further studying and working in the field of art.
1. exhibition plan
I have already been selected to involve in some exhibitions which would be held in the rest of this year. Those events are mainly held in China due to my consideration of going back to China at the end of September. I belive that, in China, if I want to keep persuing art I should attend as many high quality exhibition as I can to gain a continuous exposure of my art practice and it could also help me to access the public and get some feedback from them. And the ideal place to have a chance to fulfil my ambition is in Shanghai, a vibrant international metropolis. I will keep making artwork and hope to have a solo exhibition in the next few years. As our physical graduation show is cancelled under COVID-19 situation so I really hope that I can realise my proposal of final showcasing at a gallery in London or China.
2. working in the field of art
Maybe it is not the most ideal way to earn a living by working at a gallery, art center or museum, but for me, it is a good opportunity to learn better about the Chinese and international art ecosphere, and also gathering the relative work experience is valuable for pursuing a higher academic qualification in the future. So, after graduating from UAL, I tend to apply some work places of galleries, museums or other art institutes in Shanghai (first choice), Hangzhou or Beijing. I reckon, to be an artist, I should know how to administrate and curate my work. To work with a professional group or peers in the field of art would be a great chance to improve and examinate this skill.
3. Pursuing a higher qualification
Although after graduation this year I tend to find a job instead of applying for studying a PhD course. I will still consider to pursue a higher qualification in my bachelor university - China Academy of Art in a few years. Maybe in one day when I have a PhD qualification, I will choose to teach in art college or university just as my parents always want me to do.
Also to keep a artistic research going on in an atmosphere in university and to keep the communication and connection with other peer artists happening, I joined and will keep being in a crit group between Cambewell and Chelsea Fine Art on whatsapp or Teams to discuss and crit our work with each other in a regular time. I think I would be benefit from different views and comments from different culture backgrounds and a broader range of individual perspectives.
